The Honeywell HEX-8 INTEVIO 8-Zone Expander is designed to expand the zoning capability of the INTEVIO Public Address and Voice Alarm system. Its main purpose is to add up to 8 additional speaker zones with full monitoring, dual audio channel support, and integrated amplifier management. It ensures reliable audio distribution, system redundancy, and continuous operation during emergencies, even in the event of controller CPU failure.

The HEX-8 is ideal for single-building voice alarm and PA applications that require multiple speaker zones and dual-channel audio. It is widely used in commercial complexes, hospitals, airports, metro stations, educational campuses, hotels, industrial plants, malls, and high-rise buildings. The expander is especially suitable for projects where separate background music and emergency announcements must operate simultaneously.

The HEX-8 is a powerful zone expansion module controlled by the HCU-2000, adding 8 speaker zones, 8 monitored contact inputs, and 8 contact outputs to the INTEVIO system. It supports single and dual audio channel operation, allowing two independent audio sources to be broadcast at the same time with individual volume control per channel.

Each zone supports up to 500W loudspeaker load, and the unit can connect up to four main amplifiers and one backup amplifier, offering a flexible one-for-all amplifier backup strategy. With built-in automatic fault diagnosis, the HEX-8 continuously monitors power supply, amplifiers, CPU, speaker lines, dry contacts, and network communication, displaying fault status clearly through front-panel LED indicators.

In the event of controller CPU failure, the HEX-8 can continue operating in standalone mode, delivering audio from an external line input directly to local zones—ensuring uninterrupted announcements and higher safety during critical situations.
